A common thread through my work is a love of irony and whimsy. My background is in literature; I’ve come lately to an artistic practice. I have carried into it the realization that things are rarely what they seem and that it’s beneath the surface of things where meaning really lies.
I’ve always been fascinated with the concept that matter and energy are interchangeable. If this is so, then reality is not solid, predictable nor entirely scrutable. In my world the doors are a little askew, the chairs move about on their own and, sometimes, the goats wear turban jewels.
Fall of 2023 was an exciting season for me. My French Rooms and Goats were featured in a joint show with artist Cindy Fuller at The Gallery in Lake Forest. My art was well received, especially the Goats; many of them have found new homes where they are thriving.
I am now a voting member of the Art Students League in NYC and my studies there continue via Zoom, even post covid. Peter Bonner is a teacher extraordinaire and it is a privilege to continue in his Abstract Class.
Closer to home, Atelier 830 in Lake Forest is home of my artist ‘tribe’. Our new instructor, Hector Hernandez, shares his insights into old master techniques and the wonders of glazing. I just love being a student…
